DECO MOTOR
The Deco motor has been around since World War II and has been powering quarter midgets almost as long. It's compact size and robust construction makes it a good race engine. Originally this engine produced about 3 hp at 2500 rpm for powering pumps and generators. This antique utility engine has evolved into the racing engine powering the most exciting cars in quarter midget racing.

QMA has 4 Deco engine racing classes:

Super Stock
121 cc max. Cam, carburetor, ports, manifold, timing and minimum flywheel weight specified by racing rules. This class started out as a box stock class, but over the years production changes, lack of original parts and the desire to go faster made it into a "super stock" class. In this state of tune the engine produces over 5 hp at 6000 rpm.
Modified
121cc max. Specifications are the same as the Super Stock class except the timing; carburetor and manifold can be changed. This allows the engine to really breathe. Modified engines typically make over 7 hp at 8000 rpm.
B-Modified
124cc max. Restrictions on the engine block are removed from the modified specifications allowing high flow ports. The "B" engine really delivers a sting and an exciting ride for your driver, producing more than 9 hp at 9000 rpm. Because of the high performance level the QMA only allows the older and more experienced drivers to run the B-modified motor.
